The South Pacific is full of churches which are full of people. But many young people, especially those in tertiary education, find it hard to grapple with the gospel of Jesus and the words of the Bible in a rapidly changing context. University campus ministry has become a key way to reach, disciple, equip, and send out young people with the gospel in their hearts, guiding their hands, and on their lips. Many of the university Christian movements in the Pacific have been planted or revitalised in the last ten years, and there are many young local staff doing incredible gospel ministry. We want to use our experience in student work and in church and community life in the South Pacific to encourage, equip, and support these staff across the region so they can continue to faithfully serve Christ for many more years.
Tertiary student ministry is a relatively new avenue for gospel work in many parts of the Pacific, and it is an even newer idea to be involved as full-time staff in campus ministry. We want to see many more local staff leading, reaching, and discipling in their own contexts, so that more young people can meet Jesus, be saved and set up for a life following him, and joyfully serving their churches and communities. To do this, we need to support and train our current (and future) staff across the whole region!
The Pacific is all about relationships! Nothing happens on its own, nor can it in God’s Kingdom. We need your prayers for our work, for those we work with, and for us. We need your friendship and support to encourage and warm us when we struggle. And we need your help to be here to grow the trust, love, and bonds that allow us to work alongside students and staff across our region.
