Why we chose mission

Our names are Jesse and Amy, and we have two children, Solomon and Elijah. We love how mission flows out of the character of our great God. The Father sent his Son to reconcile us to himself. Jesus is the only name by whom we can be saved and so, we’re excited to join God in his mission to see a world that knows Jesus.

God has been growing our desire to serve him in cross-cultural mission over many years. When we first met at a missionary school in 2009, we were struck by the opportunities to share Jesus and the sacrificial service of the missionaries we met. Since then, God has been growing our desire and conviction to be involved in his global mission. He’s been equipping us in the workforce and through theological education. As we’ve partnered with and prayed for missionaries our excitement for cross-cultural ministry has only increased.

More recently, we’ve grown in our love of God’s local church everywhere as we’ve ministered in Darwin. We’re motivated to continue serving God as we learn about what he’s doing in his church around the world, including in Zimbabwe. As we see people meet Jesus and continue to be strengthened in their faith, we want to use whatever God has given us for the sake of his church and his glory.

Seeing students equipped and matured to the glory of God

As God continues to grow his church in the global south, there are significant opportunities to invest in the next generation of Christian leaders. In Zimbabwe, leadership development has not kept pace with increased church growth. Today, we have the unique opportunity to partner with local Bible colleges, like the Institute of Bible Teaching, to see local men and women equipped to handle the Bible faithfully. We do it so that God’s word might be proclaimed faithfully in the church.

The Institute of Bible Teaching, Bulawayo, a partner college of Johannesburg Bible College, is at a unique point of growth. We’ve been invited to partner with the Institute to help teach a growing number of students as they engage with, proclaim and live by God’s word. We’re excited to partner with the local team to continue seeing more students equipped and matured to the glory of God.

The Institute of Bible Teaching has invited us to partner with them to see men and women equipped to handle the Bible faithfully, but we cannot answer their call without being sent.
