As a ministry trainee in South West Sydney, I met Arab women who were striving for God’s approval through prayer and fasting. While the Jesus stories they’d been told only reinforced this mindset, I was excited by their willingness to have faith conversations. When I realised how few believers there are in some Arab countries, it was an obvious challenge to me to go.
The past decade has seen more Arab Muslims trust in Jesus than any other time in history – but even so, these numbers are still small. New believers fear their original community will reject them. And most mainstream Christians find it hard to trust these believers, let alone share their life and faith with Muslims who don’t yet believe.
I currently live in a city with a large refugee population where I lead an NGO health development project among disadvantaged communities. The role involves running groups and visiting people at home, enabling us to care for and minister to the many housebound women in poorer neighbourhoods.
Using story sets and songs in a local style, we introduce people to the overall story of the Bible. We disciple women and children who have come to faith and pray that God would gather them together to be able to share in fellowship with other believers.
God enables me to live and serve in the Middle East through the support of people like you. He listens to your prayers to move people’s hearts. He uses your financial support to free me to be with people. Could you partner with me to see a Middle East that knows Jesus?
