My aim is to share the good news where Christ has not been named, so … “Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.” Rom 15:20-21
God willing, I will spend my first year (and more) learning Arabic and the local culture/customs, hoping to be able to make meaningful relationships and communicate effectively.
I consider it a privilege to have grown up in a family that read the Bible and prayed for the specific spiritual needs of each country together daily. I heard about the thousands of people groups that have less than 1 in 1000 people that follow Jesus. I was deeply moved by God’s love for people of all ethnicities and languages, and this led me to commit my life to following Jesus’ command to evangelize and disciple people, especially those who have limited or no access to the gospel.
Most people revere Jesus as a prophet in the Middle East, but only a tiny number truly know him as Lord and Saviour. In Australia, if someone wants to investigate Jesus, they have churches, bookstores, Christianity courses, and friends to explore. In many of the Muslim-majority countries in this region, there are no churches, access to Bibles is restricted, and few have ever met a Christian. Additionally, if a local decides to follow Jesus, they face persecution, imprisonment, and even death.
How will millions in the Middle East hear the gospel clearly unless the global church sends ambassadors of Christ with the message of reconciliation? God willing, I hope to spend decades in the Middle East, building relationships and sharing the most wonderful and important news in the world in Arabic with friends, acquaintances, and work colleagues.
God uses ordinary women and men like you and me to work as a team to share the good news with all people groups. Partner with me today in prayer and by giving to CMS SANT for a world that knows Jesus.
