We are the Overhall family serving in Chile. In Sydney, we were trained and discipled well in our local Anglican church and over time we were challenged to consider how our skills might be used for cross-cultural mission. We heard about MOCLAM and the work of training and equipping God’s people in the Spanish-speaking world and wanted to pass on what we had received through this ministry.
We are convinced that God’s word centres on the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that speaking the truth of God’s word in love is crucial to the health of churches and the growth of God’s kingdom. We are also convinced that investing our lives and energy in the training of others to read, understand, and teach God’s word is of eternal value. This keeps us going when we miss Australia!
MOCLAM’s vision is to train Spanish-speaking Christians to read, interpret, and explain Bible passages Christo-centrically. Many consider it one of the best ways to understand and teach the Biblical narrative of God’s salvation in Jesus. Chris serves in teaching, training, and overseeing MOCLAM ministry as regional director for Chile and Argentina. He also teaches Biblical Theology at the Centre for Pastoral Studies, which is the theological college for the Chilean Anglican Church. Chris and Stef are both keenly involved in their local church, serving as part of the pastoral leadership team. We can see that through the teaching of MOCLAM courses and biblical theology more generally, God is equipping leaders for life and ministry.
God’s gospel purposes bring about community and unity. His mission to seek and save the lost is worldwide and encompasses every place, people, and language group. The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is good news for every culture everywhere.
We are in partnership with God’s people in Australia to serve where Jesus is less known and where resources to learn about him are less widely accessible. It is the generous partnership of God’s people to set us apart for this work that allows us to be able to serve long-term in Chile for a world that knows Jesus.
