We are a family of six with two adult sons in Australia as well as two high school aged daughters who will be joining us in Jordan. Megan grew up going to church and has known Jesus for as long as she can remember. Gavin came to faith in high school. After training at Bible college, we have been involved in pastoral ministry in the Anglican Church in Sydney for the last 17 years.
Over the years as we have supported various missionaries, we have often ourselves considered going after being struck by the need for people to hear the gospel in countries where Christ is less known. We are blessed to come from a place where there are many good churches within driving distance and are keenly aware that other places in the world don’t have that opportunity. It will be a privilege to serve Christ in a place that is less reached and to serve the church in that environment.
At a percentage of just 0.27% evangelical Christians, Jordan is a nation greatly in need of Christian witness. We are seeking to serve English speakers in the International Anglican church located in the capital which provides a place for worship, fellowship, feeding and encouragement by the Word of God. Some in the church are reaching out to locals, some work in the city or embassy and others are involved in humanitarian work. They each need support in their faith as they serve in difficult yet important roles where they can have a great impact for Jesus..
As one of few evangelical, English-speaking churches in Jordan, the International church needs your support. English-speaking Anglican ministers are typically not raised up amongst Christians within Jordan and CMS has a great opportunity to provide a biblically trained minister to take on this role. We need people praying for this work because we are weak, yet also aware that God is strong, and he answers prayer. We need partners to care for us. Living and serving far from our usual support networks, we and the church in Jordan are heavily reliant on your prayers and support. Partnering in this ministry is a way that you, the church in Australia, who are relatively gospel-rich, can help to supply the church in Jordan in their spiritual need (2 Corinthians 8:14).
