Daily Prayer Points

SAH: Thank God for times of intensive training. Pray that God will use these to strengthen his people. Mentac: Give thanks for Mentac trainee D’s decision to study at Bible College in 2025. Ask the Lord for blessing on his exposure trip in November to visit Mentac alumni in the Middle East. Pray for wisdom and zeal for those considering Mentac in 2025. Across Cultures: Thanks to God for the final Across Cultures Hub for the year and for the 25 or so people who came along to ‘Hub groups’ to go deeper after each of the training days.  

Pray with D and T that God upholds T to shine his light, as she speaks to families and professionals dealing with school refusal (a crisis in this nation). Praise God with L for her second quarter of study on location, and for helping her to reflect on God’s goodness. Pray for good results from her medical check-ups and CT scans. Pray with Sam and Shan-Shan Chrisp as they share God’s word at many different small and large group gatherings. Give thanks with Lachlan and Candy Grice for opportunities to encourage and be encouraged by many wonderful people in recent church visits in Auckland, Sydney, and the Central Coast. Pray that many will accept the invitation to partner with them. 

Give thanks with Kellie Nicholas for reconnection with supporters at camps, conferences and link church visits while on Home Assignment. Pray with Chenny Thie for renewal of her Japan residence card: that a longer period of stay will be granted (five years instead of the normal three). Pray with Elle Bryce as she continues her Japanese studies through the cold weather. Pray with Dene and Rachel Hughes for their health as the weather gets cooler: that they will still get the exercise they need, and be protected as they interact with all ages.  

Pray with Matt and Bex Ooi to develop deeper relationships with members of their church and the CAJ high school students Matt has been coaching. Praise God with Dave and Beck McIntyre for twenty years of Crossroad Church Nishinomiya. Pray that Crossroad would proclaim the Lord Jesus for many years to come. Pray with Steven and Sandra Parsons for wisdom and flexibility as Steven leads a training event this week, discussing what he wished he had known before becoming a leader in mission. Pray with Adam and Helane Ramsay at the national church planting conference: that they might learn, be refreshed, and make connections with others in kids’ ministry. Pray with Nathan and Maki Clapham for good preparations for their Christmas outreach.  

Pray with Bruce and Libby Hayes as they prepare for final Home Assignment. Pray with Co-Mission Partners (CoMPs) Samuel and Sharmila Budhathoki for Samuel as he resumes student work, and for clarity in his role with IFES. Pray that the family might readjust to life and ministry in South Asia after returning from the UK. Praise God with CoMPs Ashish Christian and Karuna Sharma for God’s help for Ashish to visit the USA recently, in order to study D.Min classes at Asbury Theological Seminary. Pray with CoMPs Jiwan and Binita for Jiwan’s parents’ health. 

Pray with A for faithful service in financial and other matters. Pray with M and K that they would be encouraged today by times of worship, Bible teaching, and fellowship with other workers at their national ‘Spiritual Life’ conference. Pray with E for strength to persist with language learning. Pray with K (and A), and S and E, that children who attend their local partner’s annual conference will feel the love of Jesus, and enjoy belonging to a caring community.  

Pray with R that she will build deeper relationships with the three women guards of her dormitory. Pray with J and P for deepening of J’s relationship with the local cleaning staff at his workplace. Ask for wisdom for P as she strives to display Christ while working with challenging individuals. Pray with J and S for good language learning, and opportunities to use this. Pray with S and D for open doors and hearts for the gospel in Central Asia.  

Pray with J for almighty God to intervene in the regional conflict and bring about peace and justice, and that Christ’s love would be seen in relief efforts from local believers. Pray with S and M for love in the face of fear for all in their region. Pray especially for the provision and protection of displaced people and refugees. Thank God with Dan and Marg for the new secondary school chaplain who loves Jesus and is faithful in getting to know the students. Thank God with Gavin and Megan Rosser that many adults and youth are joining their church each week. Pray with Derk and Susan for students at college participating in Christmas Gala daily practices, that the Spirit will convince them of the truthfulness of Christ’s life, death and resurrection. Pray with L for Boys’ Club leaders seeking to model godly ways of relating to women and children. Pray for the boys to respond to the stories of Jesus they are hearing. Thank God with M for increased numbers of people in CMS SANT exploring serving God in global mission.  

Pray with B that during Home Assignment, God will be preparing her for work in his service upon return to location. Pray with C for Jesus to build his church, and that isolated believers can build trust and have fellowship with other Christians. Ask for believers to grow in the vision to support each other in practical needs. Pray with J that she will be able to carve out quality time with believing sisters in her location. Pray with M and the team she is part of, that they may have discernment in how they spend their time, particularly as they start new projects. Pray with W and S as winter begins: for peace and stability in the Middle East, including for those who have fled violence or lost their homes. Pray with S and P for an upcoming conference and give thanks for the two-year anniversary of their church.  

Thank God with Morgan and Olivia for their new church pastor. Pray with Elizabeth for mutual encouragement at churches while on a short Home Assignment. Pray with John and Deb for ministry and budget planning for 2025, with large expense items such as hotels for church meetings. Pray for generous hearts from church members. Pray with Craig and Lisse for trainees to continue growing in their kids’ ministry skills. Thank God with Ray and Sandy for a mutually supportive staff team. 

NSW & ACT: Give thanks for CMS Summer School and its rich legacy of encouraging and challenging attendees to consider their role in global mission. Pray for CMS NSW & ACT staff, as well as numerous volunteers and missionaries who will be attending.  

QNNSW: Pray for QNNSW staff, speakers and missionaries as they prepare for Summer School at Mt Tamborine.  

SANT: Praise God for the commissioning of Maggie Crewes as she heads to the Northern Territory for a new season of mission.  

TAS: Pray for the CMS Tas AGM this Saturday, and for Events Director, Andrew Maskell, as he continues to organise January Spur Global Mission Conference.  

VIC: Pray for the AGM, that members would be prompted to depend on God. Pray for the upcoming commissioning of Emma Payne and the Gorfines: that CMS VIC would send them and support them well.  

WA: Celebrate with CMS-WA the conclusion of missionary J’s 34 years of ministry with CMS.  

Give thanks with David and Cathie Sandifer for good health, responsive students in class, and encouraging first steps in their new church plant. Pray with Co-Mission Partner Jotham Booker for the church men’s weekend away as they think about how to live fruitfully for the Lord. Thank God with Klaus and Jude Hickel for the many visitors at their new church. Pray that some of them will commit to staying. 

Pray with Simon and Jessica Cowell for God’s mercy on the various unbelieving students who are regulars at GBU groups: that he would open their eyes and hearts to submit to Jesus as Lord. Pray with Co-Mission Partner (CoMP) Andrea (and Geanne) Becciolini for the Holy Spirit to bring much fruit in their lives amid the busyness of the term, especially because there are no student leaders in Florence this year. Pray with Jason and Hannah Fairclough for students investigating Jesus to place their trust in him. Pray for boldness and maturity for GBU students as they seek to share Jesus at university. Thank God with Gillian Law for a great start to the academic year with many new students joining the GBU. Pray that this enthusiasm continues throughout the year, and that they will be bold to speak of Jesus to friends and classmates. Thank God with CoMPs Bostjan and Lidija Cifer for Bostjan’s time with Zveš (the student movement). Pray that he would finish well and that the group in Maribor would be able to continue without him and Lidija. Thank God with CoMP Manuel Ardolino for Zach joining the GBU team in Rome. 

Pray with Jim and Tanja French as they visit two churches on the Canary Islands that use MOCLAM material: for good interactions with their students and church leaders, and for safety of the French’s children remaining in Valencia. Pray with Lauren Raiter in the complexity of culture and language learning: for continued trust and dependence on God as she comes to know people more. Pray with Miriam Bradshaw for the baptisms at her church, that believers and non-believers alike would be challenged as to where they stand with God. Thank God with Chris and Kristy Galea for reconnections with friends in Malta and for the warmth, excitement and love displayed as they’ve settled back in. Praise God also for a wonderful start to school and answered prayer for their youngest, Caleb.  

Pray with Karina Brabham that the GBU’s mission conference this Saturday would equip many in their efforts to make Christ known. Pray with Colin and Catherine Puffett for blessing on colleagues Esther and William, who have just had their second child. Pray with Josh and Susannah Apieczonek for people at their church weekend away (at the same time as the GBU mission conference). Pray with Gillian Akers for the smooth extension of her residency permit so she can continue in ministry. Pray for a safe and refreshing touring holiday with her son Jonathan. Pray with Emma Payne for her last eight weeks in Australia: for good times with friends and family, and preparations for language school. Pray with Michael and Rani Grivas-Allison for wisdom, joy and progress as they seek to learn French at intermediate level. Pray with Howard and Patricia Spencer for the men from Lifepoint church, joining Howard in a series of Saturday courses at the local French Bible college: that this would spark interest in further theological studies. Pray with Co-Mission Partners Leon and Oliva Le, that God might renew their strength for this new school year (including Bible studies on Malachi, and evangelism evenings on sin and divine love) after a busy summer with the birth of their third child.

Give thanks with Marty and Jenny Foord for God’s sustaining mercies to the Bible college over the past semester. Pray that the study break will be a time of fruitful learning and growth for the students. Pray for wisdom and efficiency for the faculty as they mark assignments and exams. Pray with Christopher and Julie Dean for their current Home Assignment, that they will be a blessing to churches and supporters. Pray for times of refreshment, and wise reflection. Thank God with Chris and Grace Adams for the National Timor-Leste Bible Day conference they organised last Saturday: for Chris’s keynote address and Grace’s organisation of children’s programs. Pray with Malcolm and Leanne for church-planting graduates of the bible college: that they will be protected from persecution, that their physical needs will be met, and that they will be faithful to the teaching they have received. Pray with Taulama Siuhengalu that he will keep persevering with language learning. Pray with Co-Mission Partner T (and N) that they and their church members will actively seek out evangelistic conversations. Pray for open hearts to the gospel.  

Pray with N and R for positive farewells as they return to Australia for Home Assignment (HA), then relocate to a new city in 2025. Pray with Rowan that Christians across the country will continually grow in their love for God and one another, and that the Evil One will be restrained from sowing discord, disharmony and distrust. Give thanks with Andrew Buchanan and Abi Tandiseru that while on HA, they have had continued opportunities for ministry (online). Pray with Chris and Erin that they would be an encouragement to those running children’s ministry at their church.  

Give thanks with Julie for increased understanding of coursework and the people around her. Thank God with Jon and Deborah for 25 recent B.Th graduates of the village Bible church, and ask for blessing on their future ministries. Pray with Rebekah for God to raise leaders and researchers with wisdom as to how the gospel can be lived in local settings. Pray for conferences about this in November. Praise God with Josh and Nici for Josh’s continued enjoyment of teaching at college, and pray for Nici’s English teaching in local villages.  

Pray with K as school staff prepare Christmas outreach events and invite students, for openness to the good news. Pray that N and other believers in her location may abound in hope. Give thanks with J for encouraging deputation opportunities thus far. Pray for church visits and the celebration of God’s goodness over three decades. Pray with I and her siblings and father as they grieve the recent death of her mother. Pray for a student in I’s mission location who is now following Jesus, and being discipled by another Christian student there. Pray with L and C for growth in student numbers at the language centre where they teach.

Pray with Tim and Olivia Mulherin for the new Mercy Medical Center missionary family arriving today: for smooth transitions, as well as longevity in their work with the Khmer people. Thank God with Jeremy and Jill Horrocks and the Phnom Penh Bible School students, now finishing their studies. Pray for HOPE students as they move into a busy month of academic, sporting and musical events. Pray with Maurice and Amanda Jacobson as they accompany their students to give blood next week (for most, it will be their first time). Pray for their nerves, and that they see how they can shine the light of Jesus when they help others in this selfless way.  

Thank God for CMS missionaries who are coming to the end of their time of service in places such as Nepal, Chile, Argentina, SE Asia, and Indonesia. Pray that God may continue to raise up gospel believers and leaders in these nations. 

Thank God for the many recipients of CMS ministry scholarships around the world. Pray that they might study with diligence and a deep sense of God’s grace, and be well equipped for lifetimes of gospel ministry. 

Pray with Daniel and Olivia Webster for holistic discipline and vitality in their lives. Thank God with Kylie Zietsch for their enjoyable JBC ‘staff away training’. Pray for the JBC female international students: Hope, Avaline, Esther and Gloria, that they might grow in God’s Word. Pray with Nathan and Diane Lovell for Nathan as he plans to travel to the US for most of November, and presents academic papers at a Bible conference in Texas. Pray with Mike and Karen Roe for Amelia and Mitchell as they settle into high school in Adelaide and readjust to life in Australia. Pray with Co-Mission Partner Thulisile (and Thato) Mabe as Thuli returns to work from maternity leave, that she would continue to honour God with how she uses her time at work and at home.  

Praise God with Brenton and Mel Kilby for answered prayers: a good rhythm of family life and language learning. Pray for continued patience in learning. Thank God with Mike and Katie Taylor for the opportunity Mike had to teach a New Testament intensive at Africa International University in Kenya. Pray with Michael and Jean Burke for good language learning, and openings for medical teaching and service. Pray with David and Jenny Juniper for more godly and gifted leaders who are ready to learn and teach God’s Word. 

Thank God with Andrew and Margaret Newman for recent time with Margie’s older brother and sister-in-law. Pray for safe travel and good connections with two of their sons (and their beloveds) in November. Praise God with Ryan and Lynne Verghese for a recent church festival. Pray that through this Jesus would be honoured, and people across Praslin would come to serve him as Lord. Pray with Adam and Avril Friend that God would provide for and protect them during their current move to Toliara. 

Thank God with M for the kindness of people in her community in times of personal difficulty. Pray with Anna Radkovic for the physical protection of her team in sometimes hazardous situations. Pray with Anthony and Trudi Elyard for progress in language and friendship. Pray with Co-Mission Partners Anwar Berhe and Tsigereda Atankir for the gospel perseverance of the 800 new and continuing students in their studies at the Evangelical Theological College, Addis Ababa. 

Thank God with Malcolm and Ainsley Purdey for their children’s friends. Pray that the Purdey children would continue to enjoy church and school. Pray with Chris and Stef Overhall for God’s continued strengthening and blessing on Alan, the pastor of their church. Thank God with Frances Cook for the privilege of serving God’s people in Chile. Pray as she now settles into a far less mobile life in country SA. Pray with Co-Mission Partner (CoMP) Álex (and Karina) Córdova Morales that Karina may find employment, and that this job will allow her to fully continue her service in the children’s ministry at their local church. Thank God with CoMPs Andrés and Annika Ruiz Caro for the students now studying at CEP, and pray that they may grow in knowledge and wisdom. Give thanks with Adrian and Anita Lovell for a pastoral visit with Chris and Jeni from CMS-Australia. Pray they’d have fruitful discussions together over the next two days. 

Pray with Martin and Julie Field for wisdom as they chat with prospective Año Puente students for 2025 as well as continuing to teach current students. Pray with Amy Stephens that God might use her counselling training to open further possibilities for speaking the gospel. Pray with Peter and Terry Blowes for continuing fruit from the evangelistic push on campus during September. Pray too for student leaders to follow through well on plans from a recent retreat. Thank God with Pedro and Joy Oliveira Woolmer for spring, and the social opportunities the warmer weather brings. Pray that they would make the most of opportunities to connect with friends and neighbours, and for energy and good teamwork as a family to do so. Pray with Nick and Kysha Davies for the preaching training conference that Nick is attending as a participant, that he might learn from the speakers and other attendees. Pray with Co-Mission Partners Bryan and Sarah Haro Leon for Bryan as he prepares a new class on homiletics. Pray for more mums to come to Sarah’s Bible study. 

Thank God with Matt and Ellen Tyler that they are on their ‘village stay’ after many changes. Pray as they continue to learn language and are stretched physically, mentally and emotionally, that they will be humble learners and faithful witnesses of the gospel. Pray with Joel and Tiffanie Atwood that God will be at work in E, J, and P as they complete their final year theological project at Talua under Joel’s supervision. Pray with Keith and Marion Birchley in their final month in Port Moresby: that they will say goodbyes well, mend relationships and complete logistical tasks without too many problems. Pray with David Pettett as final year students have submitted their exit theses and second year students submit their thesis proposals: that these students may give a good account of what they have faithfully learnt. Pray with Bill and Linda Colyer that they will find and take up gospel opportunities each day.
