Our brother in Christ, M, is currently training at St Andrew’s Hall preparing to serve among Muslim people in a secure location. Even though it is dangerous and risky to be a Christian in this location M is willing to go be a witness to the lasting hope offered in Jesus.
M is willing to go, would you be willing and able to give this end of financial year? We have a target of $50,000 by 30 June to help raise up the next generation of missionaries, people like M.
M’s Story of Hope
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! Romans 10:15b
M shares “It grieves me that there’s people who have never heard about Jesus or heard a clear explanation of who he was and what he has done. I think it’s worth me moving overseas to live amongst people and be his hands and feet, that people might see what it means to be a follower of Jesus.”
God opened M’s eyes to the vast number of people who had never heard about Jesus from a young age, through praying for the nations during family devotions, helping fold prayer updates for mission prayer nights with his siblings, and interacting with missionaries when they visited his home.
When M later accompanied a family friend visiting missionaries in Asia, he reflected:
“As we lived together, there were so many things that helped me to see what the life of a missionary might look like and some of the challenges and joys. That really spurred me on to think ‘I could do this.’ It’s gonna be difficult, but God gives me strength.”
The Muslim world is a context where it can take a long time to build trust, and conversion to Christianity is potentially dangerous. Would you pray for God to open hearts and minds to accept his gift of grace through faith? M hopes to use his professional experience and skills as an engineer, along with his training in cross-cultural mission from St Andrews Hall:
“I hope to teach engineering or work as an engineer. This gives the opportunity for relationships, and a legitimate reason for being in the country. Then because people trust you in their interactions with you, they may be more open to believing some of the different things we have to say about God and Jesus … Most people need a lot of time, and storytelling in this context can help move people’s hearts by communicating truths in a way that is indirect, and yet very powerful and very memorable.”
As M prepares to serve long-term with CMS, he is so grateful for the partnership he shares with churches and supporters in South Australia and Northern Territory. M also wants to challenge and encourage us:
“As we think about the shortness of our life, and our security in God, we can take big risks for God’s glory. It’s worth asking: what is the greatest way that each of us could contribute to building God’s kingdom?”
Would you prayerfully consider giving to help us reach our $50,000 target? We want to keep raising up the next generation of missionaries who are willing to go to the ends of the earth to share lasting hope in Jesus and transform lives for eternity.
We are deeply thankful for your prayerful support of CMS missionaries, and for the fellowship we share in the gospel as together we work to see a world that knows Jesus.
