Kids and Youth at CMS Vic

Information for parents, potential volunteers and churches

What is SUTS Kids?

SUTS Kids is a 3-day program run alongside CMS’ Summer Under the Son conference. At SUTS Kids, we value encouraging children in their walk with Jesus, faithful Bible teaching, and inspiring them to think globally about long-term cross-cultural mission. Pre-school to Grade 6 are welcome.

Our values

    • Teaching – faithfully teaching the gospel to build up and grow the faith of children

    • Community – we seek to build relationships between children, their peers, and their leaders

    • FUN! – Having fun while learning about Jesus

Children’s ministry is important

Sharing Jesus with children and young people is a lively and challenging ministry crucial for today’s church.

2016 National Church Life Survey

Only 16% of children stated that they often talked about Jesus at school with their friends.

Children are the future of youth ministry! Building strong gospel foundations before the age of 12 is important for continuation into youth ministry and faith development as an adult.

Why you should get involved

If you value lifelong gospel ministry, children’s ministry should be important to you!

Teaching children to be mission-minded builds a strong foundation for their future spiritual maturity. With SUTS Kids, they will grow into missional adults who Pray, Care, Give, and Go into the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

SUTS Youth

SUTS Youth for teens

SUTS Youth Camp is a 5-day overnight program held at Phillip Island. We focus on discipling young people to help bring about a world that knows Jesus. SUTS Youth is designed to provide high schoolers with solid biblical teaching, pastoral care, opportunities to build fellowship with like-minded believers, and various fun activities. SUTS Youth endeavours to show our youth that they can participate in global mission, even at their age.

Our Values
    • Joy – Campers enjoy a range of activities that are fun-filled and create long-lasting friendships. These include canoeing, flying fox, pool party, trivia, etc.

    • Community – We carefully coordinate our team of leaders and our group of around 200 campers, with God’s guidance, to create safe and fun spaces for building fellowship and learning from each other, particularly in our daily Bible study groups.

    • Mission – SUTS Youth brings active and retired CMS missionaries on camp to speak directly with campers and tell them what it means to be involved in global mission. We also provide opportunities for our youth to stay involved, such as through prayer and giving.

    • Teaching the Gospel – We prioritise teaching the Good News of Jesus, and equipping our youth to share it with their friends!

    • Safety – We want camp to be as safe as possible. All our leaders go through a careful recruitment process to ensure they are safe adults. They are trained at length in safety and Bible teaching. We have many leaders on our team who are medical professionals or are first aid trained.

SUTS Youth for leaders

Leading on SUTS Youth Camp involves detailed and comprehensive training in youth ministry. Give your leaders an opportunity to be trained well and practice their skills while learning on the job when they lead on camp!

Content we cover in our training includes:

    • How to run a Bible Study

    • How to engage with teenagers

    • How to share the gospel with teenagers

    • How to handle a panic attack/anxiety attack in a young person

    • Discipling neurodivergent young people

    • Discipling queer young people

    • Planning and running games and activities

    • And much more!
